I purchased a
leather sectional and within 6 months had to return it because the leather on two of the cushions was dull and fading. They made me choose another sectional which ended up being more expensive, but they did agree to split the extra cost with me. However, it is now 6 months since we received our replacement couch and the leather on this one is fading from a chocolate brown to a camel color. They are telling me it is from our
body oils and it's natural for leather to fade. HUH? I've NEVER seen any
leather couch fade from anything other than sun exposure. Nor do my leather shoes or purses fade to a lighter color, and I've had those items for years. Are you serious people?? I am not sitting on my couch covered in grease or oil and am insulted that they think I'm that stupid to believe that this is normal. Someone just came out to take pictures of the fading cushions last night so I'm anticipating their call today. I would love to get my money back and take my business elsewhere but based on what I've heard from others, I know the chance of that is slim. Even though up to this point I have been a great customer because besides the 7 grand I have spent on these couches, I have also spent over 17 thousand more on
dining room furniture. Nothing has gone wrong with that stuff YET...knock on wood. I am frustrated and sick to my stomach thinking that I have been completely fooled by what I thought was a reputable company. Reading more and more complaints about them really scares me as to what I'm about to deal with. I fear that again they will make me choose yet another defective couch with no guarantee that this one won't have the same issues. Unless by some miracle they give me back my money, I will NEVER EVER shop there again. Their quality of
leather furniture is laughable, and I am afraid to find their customer service will be the same. I am disgusted and just beside myself with frustration for being a victim of this company. If anyone has any advice for me as to how to get my money back, even just a portion of it, please let me know. Otherwise, my advice to you is shop anywhere else but Walter E. Smithe.
